Zenith - ECOTRANS: green technologies for urban transport

This study aims to create a model and map of emissions and fuel consumption of buses of Metropolitan Barcelona transport (TMB) in real working conditions

Part of the database published by the European Union which is specified in the EMEP/CORINAIR inventory emissions: Emissions Inventory Guidebook. The project intends to analyze a large number of variables such as, the type of fuel used by the vehicle, bus model, the road slopes, the topology of the network, rates, and stockings, etc.

Due to this large number of variables, it is possible to raise a multitude of scenarios that apply to both the network topology and technological improvements. These scenarios are based on diagnostic specific for each of the cases.

Future scenarios are generated by combining both TMB and Bcnecologia proposals. Other factors will include the new high-level RetBus service bus network, as well as the progressive replacement of the existing fleet on the other. The new fleet boasts environmentally enhanced vehicle (EEV), hybrids and others with particulate filters.

Results are presented on the cartography of Barcelona in mesh grid of 100 meters on each side.
