Supra-municipal plan for improving the quality of the air in the Vallès Oriental (2015-2020)

PM10 emissions by interurban traffic (kg/year)
Twelve municipalities of Vallès Oriental: Canovelles, Les Franqueses del Vallès, Granollers, La Llagosta, Lliçà de Vall, Martorelles, Mollet del Vallès, Montmeló, Montornès del Vallès, Parets del Vallès, La Roca del Vallès, Sant Fost de Campsentelles, despite not being obliged to drafting, have expressed a concern about the environmental problems  due to air pollution.

This paper analyzes the quality of air in these municipalities through an inventory of emissions from different sources and compiling data of the air quality taken at the points of measurement and in campaigns made in each of the municipalities. It presents a plan of action to restablish the quality of air.

The last years the measuring points located in the municipalities of Mollet del Vallès and Granollers are those that have registered higher values of pollutant concentration. In some cases, above the values legislated to preserve human health.
The emissions inventory shows that interurban traffic is the sector that most contributes to the emissions in the area of study (74,8% de NOx and 58,0% of PM10); while 13,8% and 15,1% are emitted by urban traffic. Regarding the municipalities, Mollet del Vallès is the one that more contributes to the total emissions with 24,1% and 21,4% of NOx and PM10 respectively.

High capacity of circulaton routes as AP-7 and C-17 are the main sources of emissions in the zone.
