Operability of the new bus lines in Barcelona: the case of the H16

In the framework of the ZeEUS European project, Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB), a project partner, commissioned the Agency the present study, which analyzes the operability of the H16 line of the bus network of TMB. This line is expected to operate with 20 electric buses and opportunity charging at the ends of the line.

 

The study evaluates different scenarios, defined by charging station models and contour parameters. Four models of stations, defined by the number of points of charging in the terminals of start and end of the line have been studied: Model (1-1), Model (1-2), Model (2-1) and Model (2-2). The reference model is the Model (0-0) that corresponds to the current line, operated by non-electric buses.
 
 
The dynamic simulations of the behavior of the line and the charging operation, up to 20 for each model, have been carried out through the ARENA software. The main variables analyzed were: daily average number of delays at arrival and departure [delays/day], accumulated time of average daily delay upon arrival and departure [minutes/day], average daily number of buses making a queue in the loading area [minutes/day]. The main indication parameter is the time to complete the schedule of operations since the obligation of the buses to comply with the charges is guaranteed.
