Greencap is a project funded by the European Interreg MED program lasting three years (2016 - 2019). Greencap is a Horizontal Project and is within the thematic axis: Low Carbon Economy. The objective of Greencap is the capitalization and communication of several modular projects through the creation of an international community that promotes Renewable Energy Community.


The project is led by the Bistra Ptuj BISTRA Scientific Research Center (Slovenia) and the Urban Ecology Agency of Barcelona is an active partner with ENVIRONMENT PARK (Italy), AXELERA (France), Patras Science Park (Greece) and ZEDA Zenica Development Agency of the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning (Bosnia and Herzegovina). The project also counts with the collaboration of CRES - Center for renewable energy sources and energy saving (Greece), ENEA - Italian National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development, CIEMAT - Center for Energy Research, Environment And Technology (Spain) and the City Council of Zenica (Bosnia and Herzegovina).


The project focuses on the development of a common methodology and tools for shared communication, participation in events and the expansion of the existing thematic networks dedicated to renewable energies in the context of the Mediterranean region, especially Islands and Rural areas.


The main task of Greencap is to foster the connections and synergies between the different consortia of the modular projects belonging to the Renewable Energy community in order to amplify the impact of knowledge and the feasibility of implementing the proposals working as a community.


The modular projects of Renewable Energy Community are the following:

PRISMI- Promoting RES integration for Smart Mediterranean Islands.

COMPOSE – Rural communities engaged with positive energy

ForBioEnergy - Forest Bioenergy in Protected Areas of the Mediterranean

Stores - Promotion of higher penetration of distributed PV through storage for all.

LOCAL4GREEN - Local policies for green energy.

PEGASUS - Promotes effective generation and sustainable uses of electricity.
