Evaluation of the bike path network of Sevilla under MEIT methodology

Main bike path network in Sevilla

The objective of this project is the completion of a socioeconomic evaluation of the bike path network in Sevilla under MEIT methodology.

Sevilla, since the Bicycle Director Plan 2006, has experienced an important change in bicycle use.

The Method for the Evaluation of Transportation Infrastructures (MEIT) is a methodology developed by the Professional Association of Civil Engineers of Catalonia (Colegio de Ingenieros de Caminos de Cataluña) for the socioeconomic evaluation of infrastructures.

The analysis consists of a cost-benefit study described in more than purely economic terms. A series of qualitative variables with direct impacts on their surroundings have been attempted to be quantified monetarily, such as time saved, accident rates, or noise, among others. Based on certain decision criteria (VIA, TIR, B/C), the socioeconomic profitability of the bike path network of Sevilla is evaluated.
