CAT-Med: Change Mediterranian Metropolis Around Time

Meeting of the agents involved in the project

CAT-MED (Mediterranean Metropolis Change Around Time) is a European MED project that aims to limit emissions of greenhouse gases (GHG) by identifying practical solutions in the dynamics of cities to reduce urban impact, through strategies shared by the 11 participating cities in Spain, France, Italy and Greece.

First we worked on the identification and quantification of common objectives through indicators, calculated using an specific transfrontier GIS for the project and for which optimal values are established, understood as convergence targets for the participating cities.

Secondly each city worked on a pilot project eco-neighborhood with the criteria defined by the indicators. The Urban Ecology Agency of Barcelona participated in the project as partner, both in defining the indicators and their optimal values, many of whom like the compactness and complexity were developed and tested previously by the Agency in other contexts urban, as in the proposed eco-neighborhood: Llevant sector in Figueres. It worked aspects such as efficiency and energy self-suficiency, sustainable mobility and social cohesion.

The aim is to limit emissions of greenhouse gases (GHG) by identifying practical solutions in the dynamics of cities to reduce urban impact.
