The Xornadas de Promoción do Plan de Mobilidade Peonil o do Espazo Püblico started yesterday with the presentation of the Mayor, Jorge Suárez, and the Councillor for urbanism, María Fernández, who pointed out the objective of this Conference as the need of "talk about the city we want, the city model to which we aspire for Ferrol, to which we dedicate our work and our efforts, convinced that there is a positive way for all,  to make an active and attractive city of Ferrol for walking, living, shopping and setting up a business".

For this reason, cities such as Burgos, Pontevedra and Compostela are examples for the Concello to demonstrate the need to implement a "consensual and participatory plan to advance in the direction of making Ferrol  a city that walks, accessible to all, pedestrian, with less smoke and more life in the streets of the Centre," said the Mayor.

The responsible of Urbanism emphasized that for moving towards the pedestrianisation is necessary "the improvement of public transport, as well as enable appropriate parking spaces and recover public areas for pedestrians". Xavier Pont,  from the Urban Ecology Agency of Barcelona, author of the mobility Plan of Ferrol, was expressed in this line.
