One of the undeniable benefits of living in a city is that people can get products that meet their needs without needing to make large displacements. And yet, while it is imperative that these commercial establishments can supply themselves to provide such a service, loading and unloading activities are often perceived as one of the drawbacks inherent in urban life.

The Urban Distribution of Goods  is one of the main causes of traffic congestion. It is estimated that in the city of Barcelona there are 460,000 daily movements related to the distribution of goods and account for more than 11% of total traffic volume (data for 2012, which are likely to increase with the improvement of the economic situation). They all concentrate at certain times.

In order to carry out this type of operations, trucks and vans often stop on streets that do not have specific enabled areas, occupy lanes obstructing traffic or, in the case of single lane streets, completely block traffic.
