If the Urban Mobility Plan (UMP) of the City of Barcelona comes to fruition, one in five private cars will no longer flow through the urban fabric of Barcelona in 2018. This is the most ambitious goal of the Mobility area of  Barcelona's consistory, which needs to reduce by 21% the circulation of private vehicles to meet the legality limits of air quality fixed by the European Union. "This is not a war against the car, but we need to make a radical change, mainly due to a health issue," said the Councillor for Mobility, Mercedes Vidal.
