And if Broadway could, why not A Coruña?

"And if Broadway did it, why not us?", With this question the architect Jon Aguirre Urbanist closed yesterday his intervention in the third edition of the day of the Aula Compañía de Tranvías of the Universidade da Coruña. Behind him, on a screen, you could see two images of the street of New York, an old one, full of cars and pedestrians relegated to the margins of the road, and the other, current, a bare boulevard of traffic and plagued of tourists and neighbors with bags. That is because this year, the classroom focuses on "urban mobility and transport", with cases such as Madrid, where the subway, the light rail, the bike, the cars, the train and even the new ways of understanding mobility, such as car sharing or municipal electric motorcycles coexist.

For the speakers who participated yesterday in these talks with Jon Aguirre, the road engineer Carlos Cristóbal, who is an expert in public transport and sustainable mobility, and the doctor in Transports Rocío Cascajo, who is a senior researcher at the Research Center of the Transport of the Polytechnic of Madrid, the public transport in the region is improvable, although all agree in asking the Xunta "to lead" the changes in mobility and that the creation of an authority is necessary - it can be a consortium or the metropolitan area - that regulates the connections of the city with the surrounding districts.
